Gaia-X 4 moveID
Artificial Intelligence
Data and services ecosystem for data-centric AI solutions
The project Gaia-X 4 AI develops methods, concepts and services based on Gaia-X in the areas of automotive production and automated and connected driving.
The use of AI-based applications in data and service ecosystems holds numerous challenges: They are caused by the collaboration of different service providers and the handling of sensitive data. They result from the large amounts of data that are required to train and test AI functions, and those are also shared across company boundaries throughout the entire life cycle - from development to operation. This often leads to problems, both in terms of trust between the participants in the ecosystem and the scalability of the technologies.
AI use cases and technologies
We develop technologies to test the Gaia-X framework in a sovereign data and services ecosystem. The same applies for the use of Gaia-X in combination with high-performance computers. We also analyze the legal aspects of data space usage.
Our results:
We provide the foundation for building a basic understanding for using the Gaia-X frameworks in various AI use cases.
We develop the building blocks for setting up and operating data spaces in order to transfer them to productive operation.
We contribute the developed technologies and identified requirements, including requirements for the Eclipse Dataspace Components (EDC), to the open-source community. In doing so, we contribute directly to the systematic development of freely available technologies.
A blueprint for interoperable, commercial data spaces
The project addresses all stakeholders: Data and service providers, consumers, but also data space operators. Working with specific use cases from industry and research, we set up and technically connect a data space based on Gaia-X principles and its trust mechanisms. We implement the secure and effective exchange of data sets between manufacturers and suppliers in an approach that has been tested in practice. The data space that has been developed is a blueprint for the creation and operation of commercially used, interoperable data spaces. This creates a blueprint for setting up suitable ecosystems for data providers and data users that can be used beyond the project. In addition to generic data space technologies, we also develop specific functionalities that address domain-specific requirements, such as streaming. These functionalities are particularly important for vehicle fleet operators as they need to control safety-relevant data and functions. Further information can be found on the Gaia-X 4 KI Website.
Gaia-X 4 Future Mobility family of projects and Gaia-X ecosystem
In the context of Base-X Gaia-X 4 AI contributes to the activities in the domain "Core Services and Data Space". In this domain, a component landscape was created by the Gaia-X 4 Future Mobility family of projects. The efforts form the foundation for connecting partners to a shared data space and for implementing complementary technologies. The project Gaia-X 4 AI supports the development of methods for describing data on the basis of ontologies and best practices. Our project partners contribute to the implementation of a higher-level semantic for Base-X.
